Telecommunication Engineering


The department was established in the year 2007. The department offers 4-year B.E program (8 semesters) in Telecommunication Engineering which is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) and also approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The department currently has an intake of 60 students.

To become a nationally and internationally leading institution of higher learning, building upon the culture and values of universal science and contemporary education, and research in Telecommunication Engineering.

To provide education for enabling the students to compete internationally, with creative solutions to disseminate knowledge and technologies essential to the local and global needs in the field of Telecommunication Engineering.

  • ◊ The department has highly qualified, well experienced, competent and motivated faculty members with a minimum qualification of M.Tech/M.E in specialized subjects like VLSI, RF communication, Digital Communication and Networking, Applied Electronics, Microwave, Satellite Communication, Wireless Communication, Optical Fiber Communication.
  • ◊ Every staff member prepares the course file for the subject they handle before start of every semester and uploads the same to MIST software; subsequently students have access to the same. The course file includes syllabus, class plan, lesson plan, previous year’s university question papers, lab manuals, assignments and other teaching materials.

Significance of Branch

Telecommunications engineering is a major field within Electronic and communication engineering. The work ranges from basic circuit design to strategic mass developments. A telecommunication engineer is responsible for designing, testing, installation, commissioning, network monitoring, billing the installation of telecommunications equipment and facilities, such as complex electronic switching systems, mobile communication facilities, and fiber optics. Telecom engineers are responsible for providing the customers the necessary hardware and software which can deliver high speed data, voice and video services.

Results

It is constant endeavor of the department in bringing excellent results in all the semesters. Overall passing percentage for VIII semester for the year 2010-11 is 97%.
